A Welsh biker is the ideal foster parent according to the Charity NCH, National Children's Homes.David Quick was chosen as a foster parent in spite of his fearsome appearence and unconvential lifestyle. He is president of a biker group in Pontypridd and has successfully fostered children in the past, his latest child has autism and he has responded well to Mr Quick and his patient caring attitude. Mr Quick had this to say to to those who would disagree. So what if I'm a biker the children are more important, and many of the guys in the group are foster parents, bikers are very caring people and look after one another".

IN THE END IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER WHAT A PERSON LOOKS LIKE OR WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN. THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT THEY WILL MAKE BAD PARENTS, WHAT YOU HAVE TO ASK IS IF IT WILL AFFECT THE CHILD. I CAN'T ANSWER THAT.

I cant see why it should bikers have a dreadful reputation largely due to the Hells Angels ect, being in a secure loving home without predjudice, can only benefit the child

It's ok after all if you cut a biker they definitely bleed.

this is true goblin, it's always best to protect children from these types of prejudices, however, where does one draw the line?
who can be foster parents and who can't. many people use this point to argue that gays and lesbiens can't be foster parents. i myself have seen quite a few gay cupples make the perfect foster parents for children who's own parents quite possibly are worse than any bikers.
i think it's just a case of the line being clear to some is not quite so clear to others.
my personal opinion is that anyone who takes drugs of an illeagal nature, sells themselves on the street for money, is involved in any violent gang activity, has committed a major violent offense or anyone who works more than is humanly healthy for them and has no time for anything else, should never be considered a fit parent.

Unfortunately the rate of fostering has dropped considerably in the past few years, they are having to look further afield and I can only hope that this will break down some of the barriers, for those who have been previously refused. In Scotland it is now legal for gaylb and bi couples to adopt and foster and about time .

it has been legal here for quite a long time i think, but now they seem to be phasin out foster care for older children and sticking them in homes where they learn all kinds of things such as how to take drugs, drink and commit crime.
tell me how is that a better alternative?

I've no idea how that is supposed to help, it's using a plaster on a gunshot wound. There is a disturbing case here right now, surrounding abuse at Kerelaw school for disturbed children, apparently they were treated absymally by 3 teachers. It looks good for the prosecution.

i think the case here is that we are becoming more and more like america, there is all this fuss over insurance and no fuss about what's good for the child, and because our community service areas are so under staffed you practically have to be dead to be removed from home if you're not an infant.

No! in britain the nanny state is prevelant, there are so many safegaurds now to protect children. I was genuinely stunned to see this fella being chosen as a foster parent in the face of uncle tony's numerous unnecessary do's and donts, and what scares me the most is no one bothers to ask the child, even a 3yr old is capable of adequately expressing their fear at their home situation
